LKS2 – weekly update

Happy Friday everyone – and happy VE Day! We hope you’ve all stayed safe this week, and had some fun.

Your teachers have been very busy this week! Miss Boyd has been going on lots of walks, and has also enjoyed a couple of movie days. She also got creative with some rope and a glue gun and made a basket for her bookshelf! She also drew a rainbow to go in her window.

Mr Gamble has been doing some lovely VE day activities with his children, including having a tea party. They decorated his house with bunting and pictures of Mr G’s grandparents who served in WW2! They’ve also enjoyed a lovely fire pit barbeque…

Miss Briscoe has been busy creating collages from old wildlife magazines, and playing scrabble:

Miss Evans has also been playing board games, such as chess. She’s very much enjoyed the sun and has even bought herself a camping chair to sit in her garden. Finally, she made her own rainbow picture with all the colourful clothes she could find!

There has been some wonderful work from children in all three classes this week. From Class 5, Bailey has been working hard on his equivalent fractions, and has also built a fantastic Viking long boat!

For all the other great work from Class 5, look at Miss Evans’ post from earlier this week!

From Class 6, Yahya has worked really hard on his SPAG, including pronouns and expanded noun phrases.

Also, Lucy has made a lovely Viking shield.

From Class 7, Riley has been doing some fantastic science experiments! He’s made a film canister rocket AND an underwater volcano. We love how he’s using all the proper scientific equipment – you look like a real scientist, Riley!

William has written a detailed balanced argument about whether or not the Egyptians were an advanced civilisation, and a full adventure story featuring Sennapod the Pharaoh! He also created an amazing presentation about the Vikings, which taught Miss Boyd and Miss Evans lots of great facts.

Finally, Ella has been busy learning about the Vikings, making a rain cloud in a jar, and working on equivalent fractions. She has also created nature pictures using some things she found whilst on a walk. Ella also sent us a fantastic story about the Vikings which she wrote all by herself!

WOW – What an amazing week! As always, a big thank you to ALL of you for working so hard. Please keep updating us on what you’ve been up to by emailing info@cookridge.leeds.sch.uk

A couple of quick reminders…

On Monday, the home learning page will be updated again with work for the next 2 weeks. We are so grateful for the hard work that everyone is putting in, and fully understand the difficulties of working from home, so please don’t worry and just give it your best shot – and if you want to do any different activities we encourage this as well!

There is some brilliant work being done on TTRS, Spelling Shed, and Lexia! Please remember to login and have a go on these as often as you can.

Miss Boyd, Miss Evans and Mr Gamble will be phoning all children next week for a check in and a catch up.

This week’s challenge…

A nature hunt! Try and make a list of all the wildlife you see on your daily walks/in your garden. Have a go at drawing them, take pictures, and do some research.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend in the sun!
