LKS2 – Year 4 – Writing

Today we were given lots of example paragraphs, which we had to sort depending on whether they were taken from a narrative or from a newspaper report. We used our features checklist to identify the features of the newspaper reports and explain how we knew which paragraphs were from a report. We discussed the main differences between the reports and the narratives then picked out key facts included in the reports and underlined them. We then underlined the description in the narrative in a different colour. Finally, we focussed on the facts contained within each narrative, retrieving three key facts from each paragraph which could be used if we were converting it into a report.
