New Laws Regarding Attendance and Penalty Notices

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to inform you of the new National Framework for Penalty Notices, which come into effect from the 19 August 2024 following publication of the DfE’s Working together to improve school attendance (applies from 19 August 2024) .

The changes are summarised in the link below.

I wish to stress that the changes are being applied to all schools across the country and we want to ensure that all parents understand the changes, especially around the unauthorised absence as this does include arriving after registration has closed and not informing school of absence.
