Reception – Newsletter – 1.4.21
Welcome to our final newsletter of this half-term.
After such a challenging half-term for the children, it’s great to see them settling back into school so well!
The children have been learning about traditional tales this half-term and have enjoyed recreating stories in our new small world area this week. They read stories to Tortellini the tortoise, learned to curl and balance in PE and they had a busy week in maths where they were recapping on key skills by ordering numbers only to see Cheeky Kangaroo muddling up their numbers again. We also enjoyed learning about the days of the week and, after reading the book ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’, the children each planted a bean (just like Jasper) with the aim of growing their very own beanstalk in order to visit the friendly giants in the sky. We have set them a challenge to measure any growth that occurs during the holidays. They each have a plant diary that they are taking home, along with their bean pot. Every day they will tend to their plant. They will then draw a picture of their pot/plant and write a simple sentence about how it’s doing. If they begin to grow, the children will measure how tall the plant has grown and record this in their diaries. We’re hoping to see some seeds sprouting in the coming weeks!
Don’t forget to send in any pictures of decorated eggs in for the school’s Easter egg competition. These can be emailed directly to the Reception email address
Have a lovely Easter!
