UKS2 – Class 8 & 9 – Science

This afternoon in science, Year 5 finished off their series of lessons about the circulatory system. After previously discussing, the heart and blood vessels, today they explored the blood. After learning about the four components of blood: platelets, plasma, white blood cells and red bloods cells, the children took part in a practical session. Using food items and food colouring to represent different components, the children created their own batch of blood. Then, using scenarios, discussed which components of blood are useful for targeting different situations within the body.
