UKS2 – Creative Play – Forest School
Today in Forest School, UKS2 were challenged to play! They had a range of equipment, toys and objects to use which tested their imaginations, creativity and skillset. Children could choose to develop their knowledge of knots by learning the sliding knot to allow them to put up hammocks to relax in or revisit their tool skills in trying to make a ‘Wood Cookie Figure’ using bow saws, palm drills and loppers. They also had access to den building sticks, a bag of tarps and toy animals and were challenged to go and play amongst the trees with them. Some of the dens, stories and activities they (and the toy animals) got up to was great to see and hear – we had a 5 storey animal hotel, an animal sanctuary and a den which had tripwires and traps. Children spent their sessions immersed in their activities where they role-played, created, identified and managed risk and tried new skills. Well done UKS2!
