UKS2 – Newsletter – 07.10.2022

It has been a brilliant week in UKS2.

In science, the children were investigating the different ways to represent data. They completed an activity matching a definition with the graph type and an example, then they were challenged to create their own experiment. Each group was given the task to write their own experiment that found out which child could move across the field the fastest. After they had collected their data, they wrote it into their own tables. Afterwards, the children discussed the positives and short comings of their experiments and explained how they would change this in the future.

In English, the children have been roleplaying an interview with a survivor of the 2011 tsunami in Fukishima, Japan. They generated key phrases and wow words, and will use this to inform their viewpoint narrative.

Finally, in P4C the children were discussing black history month. They discussed the imbalance of opportunities afforded to black people and people of colour and then moved onto the importance of equality for people of all races. After that, the children identified role models and discussed why black history month is such an important celebration. The discussions were brilliant and the children conducted themselves superbly and respectfully.

Finally, our learnatics for this week are: Max and Zach (Class 8), Felix (Class 9) Rosie and Zvezdi (Class 10).

Well done for your amazing effort this week, you’re all amazing. Ooh, ahh, you’re a star!

Have a brilliant weekend, and we will see you next week.
