UKS2 – Newsletter – 13.12.2019
It has been an action packed week in UKS2. On Monday, despite the cold weather, UKS2 had a terrific day (whilst using their Forest School skills) demonstrating exceptional behaviour and an outstanding attitude to learning. All pupils took part in a number of activities, including den building, whittling wood and fire construction. Additionally, pupils were encouraged to show their creativity by making musical instruments and developing their knowledge of levers.
On Tuesday, the whole of UKS2 went on a trip to The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford. The children took part in a range of exciting activities including: a tour around The Wonder Lab, exploring the museum, a ‘Bring the Thunder’ workshop and seeing an IMAX movie ‘Walking with dinosaurs’. The children conducted themselves fantastically and were excellent representatives of Cookridge Primary School. We are looking forward to implementing our new-found knowledge next term in our upcoming topic ‘Space and Light’.
On Wednesday, Class 9 had their last SWAP session with Mr Long. All pupils have developed their knowledge and understanding of the programme, which has consisted of six 1-hour sessions, focusing on four key themes that are important to young people’s well-being: How I Move, How I Eat, How I Sleep and How I Feel. These topics focus on physical activity, sugar content of foods and drinks, hydration, fruit and vegetables, sleep hygiene, sleep and screen time, emotional well-being and resilience. UKS2 want to say a huge thank you to Mr Long for all his hard work!
