UKS2 – Newsletter – 14.02.20

It has been a busy week in UKS2. In PPA on Monday, pupils were practising their watercolour techniques. The children focused on their use of colour, wash techniques and reflection to capture serene forest landscapes.

On Tuesday in RE, Class 8 were exploring ‘right and wrong’. The pupils discussed this concept, generated their own meaning of right and wrong, and thought of  some examples that were difficult to classify. They then used ‘opinion corners’ (a P4C technique) to facilitate further discussion. The children engaged brilliantly and contributed some thought provoking questions into the lesson. Well done!

On Wednesday, Year 6 were fortunate enough to be invited to Ralph Thoresby High School to watch their school production of Beauty and the Beast. After a somewhat bracing walk, Year 6 had a brilliant time watching the hard work of the Ralph Thorseby students. We look forward to seeing their production again next year!

Finally, on Thursday, 14 children from UKS2 were lucky enough to be invited to a schools only session at the Leeds Valentine’s Fair. After an exciting trip down to Woodhouse Moor in the school minibus, we arrived. The children went on a variety of rides, including: the waltzers, the jungle funhouse, the ghost train, disco fever and the carousel. Everyone had a fantastic time and we even dodged the bad weather!

Have a fantastic half term break! We look forward to seeing you all back and refreshed on the 25th of February.
