UKS2 – Newsletter – 14.06.24

What a busy week it has been in UKS2! It feels like the weeks are just flying by and we can’t believe we have already had two weeks of Summer 2! There has been lots going on across school but especially for Year 6 who have been completing their Bikeability sessions this week. For the first time ever at Cookridge, all children successfully managed to get out on the roads where they learnt how to safely ride amongst traffic. This included where and how to check at junctions. The instructors had nothing but compliments for the attitude and behaviour of our pupils – well done Year 6!

Also this week, we have held our in class poetry slam competitions and the children have chosen who they would like to represent them at the Summer Fair! Well done to everyone that took part – you were amazing and it’s a shame that we can’t have you all reading at the event next Saturday! Thank you for all your efforts!

As you know, the summer fair is due to take place on Saturday 22nd June and is expected to be our biggest sumer fair ever! There is a huge range of stalls, fair ground rides and even a beer and prosecco tent all starting at 12.00 until 16.00! We hope to see as many of you there as possible! Your children have all taken home a letter today asking for items to be brought in which includes: bottles, filled jars, chocolates, toys, books and any other unused gifts. We’d also love any cakes and baking items on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st June if possible.

Year 6 have all now received their information in regards to the DWF visits that are starting next week, please ensure you read the slip that your child has been given as arrangements for the days they are going are different to usual.

We hope you have a great weekend!
