UKS2 – Newsletter – 16.9.2019

Week three has been a busy one in UKS2. Year 5 spent Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at Lineham Farm on the first Year 5 residential ever. After many enjoyable activities, Year 5 returned safely to school on Wednesday afternoon. Safe to say everyone was incredibly happy but exhausted!

Year 6 have enjoyed another week full of activities, including art, Forest School and science. In Forest School, UKS2 were asked to work in small groups and use measuring equipment to develop a fun activity that would show they understood measure. The activity explored finding the perimeter and area of a shape or converting measurements. Each group was shown how to use the different pieces of equipment and had a white board and pen for working out. All the groups came up with a fun and exciting activity, including: measuring throwing distance, measuring the height of trees and calculating the area of the football pitch. One team even managed to create a catapult to throw apples!
