UKS2 – Newsletter – 29.11.19

It has been a busy week in UKS2! In English, we have been reading and researching the tale of King Midas and the Golden Touch in preparation for our big write next week. Focusing on emotive language and cohesive devices, the pupils have annotated an example text, created an emotional timeline and role played the thoughts and feelings of the King.

This week in maths, Miss Barnicoat’s class have been investigating squared and cubed numbers. We have been learning all about the relationships between numbers and testing our short multiplication skills to calculate our answers.

On Thursday, students from UKS2 were given the opportunity to ‘Takeover’ school for the day. After a stringent application process, children from UKS2 were selected to Takeover the roles of staff in school. The students were expected to lead classes, use staff radio and they even got to use the staff room at break time! The remaining pupils completed a careers carousel, where they practised job interviews, writing C.Vs and researching jobs.
