UKS2 – Newsletter – 11/10/2019

We have had an action packed week in UKS2. Despite a wet and windy start to the week, on Tuesday, we managed to get out for Forest School. Pupils had the opportunity to experience a number of fun and exciting activities whilst working in small groups. Students further developed their fire building skills and used the flint and steel to create a small fire. Other groups used their creativity to design and make a game that incorporated conkers. Elsewhere, pupils helped to prepare the beds in the polytunnel ready for re-planting over winter. All students also had a RIC session that developed their understanding of Greek theatres -this will become extremely useful in our English write next week.

Additionally, over a number of weeks, Year 6 pupils have had the opportunity to experience food technology with Mrs Arnott. Students have been working on preparing food safely, weighing and measuring ingredients, cutting and preparing food carefully; as well as, cleaning work areas, equipment, utensils, and dishes. All pupils have worked incredibly hard and shown some exceptional culinary skills!

Finally, on Friday UKS2 hosted their Greek themed parent event. Children completed a kahoot quiz, an art task creating The Parthenon and an exhibition of Greek food! Olives, hummus, pitta bread, Greek yoghurt and honey were all consumed, with a variety of enjoyment levels expressed amongst the pupils!
