UKS2 – Tools and Knots Recap – Forest School

The weather today didn’t put UKS2 pupils off in their Forest School sessions. Pupils had a basic skills recap session which focussed on tools and knots. Children could choose between refreshing their skills using whittling knives, bow saws and bill hooks outside whilst they had the opportunity to practice their knots from previous years, including Bowline, Clove Hitch, Prusik and the sliding knot inside the poly tunnel to take a break from the chilly wind, sleet and rain. Finally, children could also choose to do a spot of weeding in the veg beds and in the herb garden in preparation for some Spring planting as soon as the weather warms up and, to Mr Gamble’s surprise, a lot of children were up for the job despite the conditions! Well done and thank you UKS2!
