Wellbeing Wednesday – Forest School
What a fantastic morning we had today under the trees! Both groups began with a ‘check-in’ with a twist – pupils had to show what they were feeling using natural resources! We had some great faces and words created before pupils then discussed their emotions in detail. We then looked at some strategies to help wellbeing. First, we did ‘sit spotting.’ Whilst sitting silently amongst nature, we ‘spotted’ things with our eyes and ears and fed back. In only 5 minutes, we spotted bees, flies, ladybirds, woodlouse, a crow, a butterfly, clover, buttercups, daisies and heard a range of birds. Next, pupils took part in a yoga session amongst the trees where we discussed the positive impact of physical health on wellbeing and the benefits of being around trees and green spaces. At the end of the morning we reviewed how we’d felt – peaceful, relaxed, calm, challenged, resilient and proud were all words we came up with to describe what we’d felt during the session.
