Wellbeing Wednesday – Forest School

Today in our Wellbeing Wednesday Forest School sessions pupils have been working on our kitchen garden. Children have learnt about plants, their root systems and what we class as ‘weeds.’ We then began to do some ‘weeding’ and bedded up our developing strawberries by putting dry straw underneath them to stop them rotting on the damp soil. Another job we completed was pruning the hedges and supporting our growing raspberries and blackcurrants by attaching them to canes. Finally, children completed their gardening tasks by clearing the weeds from the onion bed in order for them to grow strong and healthy without competing for nutrients.
