Year 2 – Beast of Breary Marsh – Forest School

Year 2 had a fabulous time in Breary Marsh exploring loose parts in a woodland setting as well as working on our stimulus for writing. Linking to their reading book in class, pupils were introduced to the legend of the Beast of Breary Marsh. Groups discussed the marsh and the habitat and why a beast would live there. They talked about the need for shelter, food, water, protection and how it would survive. Using loose parts, pupils created images of what the beast could look like on the floor and described its appearance and character. Groups then made its home and food store before using role play and drama to create a tale of the Beast. All this will be used for ideas for their own stories back in school over the next few weeks.
