Year 3/4 trip to Leeds City Museum

As part of our focus on the Ancient Egyptians next term, the children in Year 3/4 will be attending a morning workshop at Leeds City Museum called ‘Egyptians at the Museum’. Each class will be attending on the following dates:

Class 5: Tuesday 14th January AM

Class 6: Thursday 16th January AM

Class 7: Tuesday 21st January AM

Throughout the workshop, pupils will address the question ‘how do we know about the Ancient Egyptians?’ by looking at artefacts that are on display in the museum, including; a mummy, canopic jars and jewellery. Pupils will also have the opportunity to practise embalming on an Ancient Egyptian doll, and make a small Egyptian amulet.

To travel to the museum we will be taking the local bus. It is a short walk to the bus stops on either side, so children must wear a waterproof and warm coat as the weather is unpredictable at this time of year. We will be eating lunch at the museum before returning to school for the afternoon, so each child must bring a packed lunch.

To cover the cost of the workshop and public transport, we are asking for a contribution of £5.50. We hope you agree this is an excellent price considering the quality of the teaching at the museum and the opportunity for the children to learn about the Ancient Egyptians.

If your child is under the Pupil Premium scheme, you are entitled to pay half price and your child will receive a free packed lunch.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours faithfully,

Miss R Evans
