Year 3 – Classes 4/6 – Forest School Mindfulness and Science
As part of our current science topic, ‘Plants’, Year 3 spent the day in Breary Marsh Nature Reserve and Golden Acre Park.
Throughout the day, the children took part in various activities to learn about the different types of plants and trees that grow locally to us. This included plant investigations, including studying and identifying different types of trees and flowers, investigating and seed dispersal.
In addition to this, pupils also particpated in Forest Bathing. This is spending time in a forest or wood to reduce stress, increasing wellbeing and promoting mental health. It originated in Japan, where it is called Shinrin Yoku.
