Year 3 – Tools – Forest School

This afternoon, Year 3 pupils have been learning all about tools in preparation for their upcoming Viking Days. The first tool we looked at was the bill hook. Children were taught its purpose, how to use it safely and watched a demonstration before having a go themselves. The second tool they spent time practicing was the bow saw. Again, after a safety talk and demonstration, children were able to use it appropriately to complete desired tasks. Both of these tools will be used over the next few days in our Viking sessions as we will be lighting and maintaining fires for cooking on so need a plentiful supply of firewood.
