Year 4 – Fire Making – Forest School
Year 4 had a wonderful Forest School afternoon today where they revised their knowledge and skills in fire lighting. Linking in with our current topic on ‘Stone Age’ and after discussing the uses and dangers of fire and why and how our ancient ancestors used and harnessed it, children recapped the ‘fire triangle’ and different fire lays before setting to work. Groups worked together to organise themselves and allocate jobs such as fuel collecting, fire lay making, fire management and safety. Despite some setbacks, children persevered, problem solved and worked together to create successful fires which remained lit for over fifteen minutes. Well done Year 4!
