Year 5 – Forest School

This afternoon, Year 5 pupils have enjoyed a session in which we finished our series of lessons on knots by applying their skills and knowledge for different purposes. To begin with, children practiced the four knots they have been working on this term; Prusik, Bowline, Clove Hitch and the sliding knot. Once they had reviewed these skills, children then applied them correctly to make shelters using tarps, guy ropes, float lines and pegs, attach hammocks to trees for some relaxation or create first aid stretchers using two long poles and a piece of rope.
